Chocolate Almond Macarons Take #2.
I couldnt resist to try again. And I got feeeet! Well, the tops are lumpy still, its not perfect. I used almonds instead and stuck to the same recipe except let it sit for an hour before baking to form a skin. Anyway I found an macaron recipe with an italian meringue base for my next try sometime, soon.

Chocolate Hazelnut French Macarons. Yet another failure. I didnt get that smooth top and ruffled feet): This must be the millionth time I'm trying chocolate macarons. Maybe its because I swapped out almonds for hazelnuts, which were more oily. Well, I think I'm closer, some of them got feet, but they are so unnoticable, and most probably my imagination. I'll try Jocelyn Shu's macaron recipe, it is a cooked meringue so should be more stable(:

I realised that my aunt Sharon is a friend of Joycelyn Shu(: Yeah she attended both the macaroon and cupcake workshops at Shermay's so I can borrow the recipes!
Yes today I chanced upon Bake-it-yourself retail store in Singapore. Whee, its really cool and stock lots of Wilton's products and cake decorating tools. I bought large star and round piping tips and piping bags for cupcakes(: They have many types of liquid powdered and gel food colourings, sprinkles, luster dust, glitter, sanding sugar(:

Depressed, because I haven't started on the huge mound of homework. Hmm, failed heymath very miserablely, and I couldnt go island cremery):
Yeah, today vanilla vanilla cupcakes. The buttercream isnt very pink, and it gives me a sugar high. (the buttercream contains 4 times as much sugar as the cupcake) So tomorrow, just plain chocolate sour cream cupcakes without frosting.

So, we didnt get in. It is a disappointment really, but were we stupid to think that we could do it in the first place? But even so, getting to participate is more than I could ask for. Yeah so tried to find Ms Cheong about chaos but she was nowhere to be seen. Haha I remember when I used to pronouce chaos as chau-os instread of kay-os. (:
Today I gorged alot, spent much time gazing at King Arthur's Flour online baking catalouge, yes I think I'm crazy, but I really need to get those extremely pretty sugar flowers<3 And, my custard for hazelnut gelato boiled over, and it spilt all over the kitchen floor ):

Yesterday : Lab partners letter writing <3, dance camp meeting, and freaking out with Nicole chan during SBL over two sentences. Heh.
I have major OBS refusal symptoms. Anyway today made moist banana cupcakes with cream cheese chocolate swirl frosting. Haha I wanted swirls so I painted my piping bag with chocolate. It turned out really really ugly.
So I just frosted them plain cream cheese frosting, drizzled melted chocolate and swirled it instead.

Hurricane season doesn't start for another three weeks, but that didn't stop the year's first named storm from making an early debut off the southeast coast Wednesday.
Subtropical Storm Andrea gathered about 140 miles southeast of Savannah and packed winds of about 45 mph as it crawled slowly west toward land. A tropical storm watch was issued for parts of Georgia and Florida.
Andrea is the first Atlantic storm to be named in May since Tropical Storm Arlene in 1981 and the third-earliest named squall since 1950. Tropical Storm Ana appeared in late April 2003 but raged far out to sea.

Anyway, I found out I had butter in the fridge still. So in celebration I made grapefruit pomegranate cupcakes without pomegranate. Pomegranates are out of season! ): Cupcakes hint of grapefruit, poof but tastes like orange.

I bought really pretty cupcake decorations with 6 different designs today(: But they are really expensive $12 each. The edible glitter was really pretty too, but that was like $19 for a tiny winy bottle. ):
Also today made Chocolate 'Macaroons' with silky chocolate buttercream. They arent really macaroons though, more like chocolate sandwich cookies. The recipe was tricky, blah so I only salvaged 1/4 of the batch ):

Inspired by Andrea Cheah.
Today swirled chocolate banana cupcakes. Swirled sounds better than marbled(: Took a banana cake recipe, added melted chocolate to part of the banana buttermilk batter and swirled it in. Used half a recipe meant for a bundt cake so only made 9 cupcakes.
